Letchworth Waterworks – Urgent Update

December 5, 2016

Anglian Water have informed Central Bedfordshire Council that the odour problems over the weekend were caused by pipework in their recently installed ‘Bloodhound’ system, a temporary solution used to mask the odour, being frozen.  Anglian Water are sourcing suitable insulation to avoid this happening in future.  Central Bedfordshire Council officers would like a more permanent solution to be installed.

Central Bedfordshire Council officers are on site this morning carrying out further investigations, the results of which will be added to the existing evidence base and used in determining whether formal action against Anglian Water will be taken.

We understand that the decision regarding formal action will be taken by Central Bedfordshire Council officers this week.

Alistair Burt MP is contacting Anglian Water at the highest level to ensure they are aware of the problems being experienced and insist that they consider this situation with the utmost urgency.

Fairfield Parish Council and Fairfield Park Residents Association have been invited to meet with Central Bedfordshire Council Officers on December 14 to be party to the latest discussions with Anglian Water.
