Fairfield Parish Council

CBC Councillors Annual Report 2024-2025

Andrews1 e1695219085910CBC Ward Councillor Jodie ChileryJodie Chillery (Independent) and Nick Andrews (Labour) are the Ward Councillors for Arlesey and Fairfield.

We work collaboratively and well together for the residents of our ward

Jodie sits on the Police and Crime Panel as Vice Chair and the SEND Sub Committee as a committee member.

Nick sits on the Development Management Committee (known as planning to most) and the Corporate Resources and the Sustainable Communities overview and scrutiny committees.

Here are some highlights of the work we are currently focused on in the Fairfield area:

This year we have successfully lobbied the council to consider the Hitchin Road cycle path a priority for the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan, with confirmation that it has been budgeted in this year’s annual Highways Plan. The planning process for it is underway and we are looking forward to an update from the Active Travel team for some information around scheduling of works.

We have also worked with the public transport officers to find a resolution to provide a public bus that can work to serve both Etonbury and Pix Brook Schools – working with officers and the schools we are hoping to roll out a new timetable after the May half term (there has been a minor delay from easter).

Having met with residents and engaged with Fairfield Lower school about road safety concerns specifically on Dickens Boulevard and Kipling Crescent we are meeting with officers on site in the coming weeks to observe the school run chaos and work on some considerations for improvement.

At the Police and Crime panel – Jodie has raised the issue of off-road scooter and moped causing an anti-social nuisance in the Fairfield area. It’s an on-going issue the police are working on with some arrests made already and specific operations in this area. As a result of concerns raised and town and parish council meetings in Arlesey and Fairfield, in April Jodie will be accompanying the local police on a shift to better understand the work that goes into our area and to highlight to the front-line officers some of the residents’ concerns. I will report back to you what I learn.
