It gets better each year – that was the view of many who came to Apple Day 2022.
For parents and grandparents the highlight of the afternoon was the performance of Fairfield Community Hall-based, Fusion Dance. Their pupils, tiny tots to teenagers, gave a great display of street and break dancing.
Popular with the youngsters was another Hall based group, Flow Art who mesmerised everyone with a display of juggling, and hoop-la. When they finished they invited youngsters to have a go and we saw two or three future budding members perform.
Away from the main area there was a battle performed by the Vikings, the Wryngwrm Dark Age War Band from Bedford who used axes and swords. Our photo suggests not many survived!
Many local traders took the opportunity to show off and sell their wares, there was fund-raising and plenty of food outlets to satisfy all tastes. Our own Fairfield WI did a roaring trade with homemade cakes galore and teas and coffees.
And not least, there was the main event, apple crushing to produce the finest Fairfield Apple Juice and, hopefully, next year’s cider!
