Allotments has been high on the list of priorities since the council was formed in 2013 with the stumbling block being available land. However, negotiations with Central Bedfordshire Council (CBC) over land for a Garden of Remembrance opened up the option of securing part of that land plus an area of farmland just across the border and in Arlesey.
The triangle is to be made up by utilising part of the current do walking area adjacent to the unmarked graves at the original cemetery. This land is currently owned by Fairfield Park Residents Company who are agreeable with the move.
Plans for the allotments will be submitted at the same time as those for the Garden of Remembrance.
Currently about 60 residents are on the waiting list for an allotment.
If would like to add your name to the list please email our clerk.
